AhKriti: "Creativity is contagious, pass it on"

Welcome to my first feature interview. An excerpt for your pleasure:

"In Sanskrit, AhKriti means 'a beautiful form.' The mother, career woman and jewelry designer behind Indian Inspired Ethnic Jewelry, creates beautiful pieces that are inspired by her home country: 'the land of Mysore Silk, Kanjeevaram Sarees, the Taj Mahal and Assam tea – INDIA.' Her handmade jewelry is full of statement pieces- bold, beautiful, and modern with 'an East Indian aura and in dark and very coloured hues.'

The AhKriti Facebook page includes her mantra, a quote attributed to Albert Einstein: 'Just like Albert Einstein once said, "Creativity is contagious, pass it on."'

And just like that, AhKriti was born."

*To read more about the vibrant and unique creations of AhKriti, read the rest of the interview on iCraft.ca.

Happy reading and, I predict, shopping!

Justine

Local Crafts Festival Photo Journal: Fairs Combine Business and Pleasure - iCraft.ca Blog

"I was admittedly skeptical about participating in my first local crafts festival this fall. It is already a notoriously busy time of year, and I wasn’t sure how much work a local crafts festival might entail.

Well, it took a lot of work in the end. But it was totally worth it.

I joined forces with a fellow photographer, who is also a good friend, and together we created a tent worthy of the best local crafts festival around.

Creativity is key, we discovered, and is much more important than experience or even budget..."

Guavaween 2011 makes it easy to visit Ybor City consignment shops

"When it comes to eclectic fashion, Ybor City on any given day has most average American towns, and even many of the larger cities, beaten by a landslide. There is an edginess to the fashion sported by local residents, and this distinction is part of the culture of the world famous port neighborhood in Tampa, Florida. The unique climate and rich history of Ybor City create an environment..."

London, Revisited

Beginning the arduous process of weeding old and duplicate photo files off of my trusty old Mac. Challenge? Huge. I tend to create more than one sub-folder or album, or a folder-within-a-folder, or some other such nonsense. So the task is a large one, which means, naturally, that I am procrastinating it. Case in point? The first set of photos I ever uploaded to this laptop was back in March '08, when it was shiny and new and right after I came back from a 10-day trip to London and Amsterdam. I present to you, not a highly streamlined and redundancy-free iPhoto--yet--but the newly tweaked handful of my favorite images from the trip. There are a few previews below to entice you.

You can view the public album here on G+, or here on FB.

Enjoy!
